Jason Edmondson, BHS Class of 2015 Valedictorian and FFA Area 7 First Vice President has been awarded the largest Texas FFA Foundation Scholarship available. Ag advisor Joe Vann stated “As a result of Jason’s dedication and commitment to the Texas FFA Program, along with his scholastic accomplishment, Jason will receive a $20,000.00 scholarship over four years sponsored by the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. In addition, Jason is running for the prestigious Texas FFA State President, which involves tremendous amount of preparation and dedication.”
Jason will be honored for his accomplishments at the Texas FFA Convention in Corpus on Thursday, July 16, 2015.
School Board Meeting News
Recently elected School Board members Robby Robertson and Angela Moore were sworn in at the June 15th Board meeting. Jeff Hullum was unable to attend and will take the Oath during an upcoming meeting.
Athletic Director Kurt Jones provided a comprehensive report on the participation and successes of the 2014-2015 BHS athletic programs. Coach Jones had some great information to share. View the report here.

Summer should be a break from study, not good nutrition. Thanks to the Seamless Summer Program – nutritious meals during the summer are available at no cost to all children aged 18 and under. To participate, children may simply show up at a participating program feeding site. Burnet CISD is excited to announce that the meals will be served at three locations this summer - Burnet Middle School, Bertram Elementary, and the YMCA in Burnet. For complete details, click here.
The Next Step
BCISD is proud to say that this spring six Burnet High School athletes signed to play at the college level. The signings took place in the high school library where the Seniors were surrounded by family, classmates, coaches, and of course - the media! Congratulations to the following accomplished athletes and their families
Kody Hall and Cameron Chafin signed to play football. Kody signed with Blinn Jr. College and Cameron signed with Hardin Simmons.
Autumn Freasier will run track at Ranger Junior College.
Taylor Barksdale will play baseball for Temple College.
Pole Vaulter Blake Skoog signed with the University of North Texas.
Alex Melvin signed to play football for Southern Methodist University.
