January School Board Meeting News

BCISD's BOND RATING IMPROVES!
Burnet CISD has earned an improved bond rating from Moody’s Investor Services. As a result of the District’s financial strength and stability, the District’s rating increased to “Aa3” from “A1.” This moves the District from an upper-medium grade/low credit risk to high quality/very low credit risk.
Moody’s commented on the District’s large, growing tax base; favorable operating history and strong reserves. The improved rating lowered the interest rates on the $26.75 million in bonds the District recently sold, saving taxpayer dollars.

“Our District and school board is well-known for its sound fiscal practices and being good stewards of taxpayer dollars,” Superintendent Keith McBurnett said. “This accomplishment further displays the District’s commitment to maintaining its high fiscal standards and is the result of the excellent work by our District Leadership Team.

Over the last twelve years, the District has received the Superior Achievement rating in the Texas School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, the state’s accountability system for school finance. In addition, Burnet CISD has one of the lowest student to debt ratios of surrounding districts.

Coming Soon...My School Bucks
The Burnet CISD Food Service Department is in the process of converting to a new software system for online prepayment of meals, currently know as LUNCH MONEY NOW.

During the conversion, online payments will not be available January 23 - 27, 2015.  Please make meal payments in the school cafeteria with cash/check or prepay online before January 23rd to ensure a positive balance in your child's account during this transition.

The new online prepayment software, MY SCHOOL BUCKS, will be activated on January 28, 2015.  All balances will be transferred automatically to your student's lunch account. The Food Service Department is excited about the benefits of this new program.  Complete details will be included with your child's upcoming report card, but in the mean time if you should have any questions or concerns, please contact the Food Service Department at 512-756-8991.
